Best sounding AIM submission so far.

Careful with your impact FX. They clutter the low end.

Also, WHY is the coolest part of the piece the shortest at the end???

I wanted to hear at least 2 minutes more.

The breakdown chord progression is way too basic honestly for something like this. I’ve heard it many times before and skipped ahead to that epic last section. And while on topic, the breakdown does not fit with the last section of the piece.

The intro was super cool. If I were to remix this, I would keep the intro and outro and expand on those ideas.

The mix could tighten up just a tad more.

You got me to say more than two sentences so take it as a complement!

Take me to melodic spooky town!

Process yours sounds some more. They all sound too “flat”. I’m not sure how else to describe.

    TebyTheCat responds:

By "process" you mean putting some effects or filters? Or is it something about just reverb and EQ it better?

Speed up the tempo! It drags too much in the intro.

Mix could use more work. Process your drums with some parallel compression, EQ your guitars some more and give each one a spot in the mix. They’re clashing.

Props for recording your instruments. As a classical pianist, I appreciate people who both make music and play instruments themselves!

    Banana-head responds:

Its Doom Metal man, the slower the better. Only reason it wasnt even slower its because i had a 6min limit for the contest.
And yeah i really need to learn mixing more if i want to be better at music, i had to google what parallel compression even is lol. I know only the very very basics of EQing and i just do that for every song i make, i rly should dive deeper into the subject.
    Thanks for the review!

    Really quiet mix.

Yours strings are hard panned to the left and drums hard panned to the right. It’s generally not good practice to hard pan I wouldn’t push it past 20-30%.

    Crash cymbals are too loud

    I’m happy you’re using a non 4/4 time signature

    Yoshiii343 responds:

    >really quiet mix
funny you say that, the mix sounds really loud for me.
    maybe my ears are shot

    >strings being panned left and drums right
none of the instruments are hard panned (except the cellos, at 20%)

but yeah, they do sound hard panned. strange.

holy crap you came back too?

reminds me of chronicles of Narnia.....

    DavidOrr responds:

Hey Sequenced! Sure did -- good to see a familiar face from the good ol' days!

    You still make music?

    Shocking horror!

    Quarl responds:

I actually wrote about four paragraphs and mentioned you, then deleted it because I figured no one would give a shit about my four paragraphs. You're my token house friend :'|

    You’ve gotten better

    Very way way more louder

So this is what you do nowadays

Impressive work. Probably the only sound I didn’t like was 2:11before the drop.

Some sounds had too much wideness (stereo). The overall mix could be brighter too. (More high end).

    Nice job
