Using the RuneScape sound fonts? Haha.
Some of the bass notes don’t fit with the chord progression.
Add a bit of reverb. It will help fill out the space in between your guitar notes.

You caught me on that bass line! Wasn’t sure if it was super noticeable, but I’ll look into it. Thanks!
The first arp doesn’t sound in key.
The breakdown loses a lot of the energy from the first part. A shorter breakdown with some of the percussive elements could keep the energy going.
Outro is way too short for a long breakdown like this.
Thanks for your criticism. I never thought about people disliking the long breakdown since a huge majority of trance tracks have a breakdown actually losing the energy on purpose. For better transitions i would suggest to listen to the extended mix because ive had to cut this version to follow all the rules of the AIM (max lenght must be 6 minutes.) I was lacking ideas how to finish the outro so i ended it abruptly with the guitar
The arp is in key (or it should be :D )
Change the snare!!! It’s too weak for this.
Shorten the kick too. It clashes with the sub.
Thank u! It takes someone pointing it out for me to notice sometimes!
Take me to melodic spooky town!
Process yours sounds some more. They all sound too “flat”. I’m not sure how else to describe.
By "process" you mean putting some effects or filters? Or is it something about just reverb and EQ it better?
Speed up the tempo! It drags too much in the intro.
Mix could use more work. Process your drums with some parallel compression, EQ your guitars some more and give each one a spot in the mix. They’re clashing.
Props for recording your instruments. As a classical pianist, I appreciate people who both make music and play instruments themselves!
Its Doom Metal man, the slower the better. Only reason it wasnt even slower its because i had a 6min limit for the contest.
And yeah i really need to learn mixing more if i want to be better at music, i had to google what parallel compression even is lol. I know only the very very basics of EQing and i just do that for every song i make, i rly should dive deeper into the subject.
Thanks for the review!
Really quiet mix.
Yours strings are hard panned to the left and drums hard panned to the right. It’s generally not good practice to hard pan I wouldn’t push it past 20-30%.
Crash cymbals are too loud
I’m happy you’re using a non 4/4 time signature
>really quiet mix
funny you say that, the mix sounds really loud for me.
maybe my ears are shot
>strings being panned left and drums right
none of the instruments are hard panned (except the cellos, at 20%)
but yeah, they do sound hard panned. strange.
holy crap you came back too?
reminds me of chronicles of Narnia.....
Hey Sequenced! Sure did -- good to see a familiar face from the good ol' days!
You still make music?
Shocking horror!
I actually wrote about four paragraphs and mentioned you, then deleted it because I figured no one would give a shit about my four paragraphs. You're my token house friend :'|
the stereo guitar is a tad too loud
sweet jam
Like the rhythm part? All right I'll fix that, thanks
