are you a gospel artist now

Buoy responds:

I've been meaning to tell you

i see you're still making noise

Quarl responds:

Just this year. I'm gonna angst quit again.

good track mah dude.

the mix is pretty solid. the brass could probably use some more brightness from what I hear on my end!

if you ever need sax recordings for stuff like this, I gotchu :)

endKmusic responds:

Yay!
Sometimes I get a little carried away with the high end or brightness on some of the instruments, so I wanted to kinda play it safe and keep the focus on the trumpet.
But I'm sure it could sound better - note taken. :)
Alright, thanks for the offer. :D
If I come up with something I'll let you know.
Glad you dig it Seq!

tune-up that bass a bit

Quarl responds:

yessir

Your mix is clipping o.O

love the beat tho

DreamEater responds:

Clipping fixed x.x

why so loud :(

Lubloom responds:

Damn, I guess I overcompensated for Audacity's volume reduction when I exported as a .mp3. Hopefully the .wav is fine though.

5 stars well deserved.

your melodies are well composed/thought out. Honestly we do not have a lot of quality musicians that make this future bass-ish style on NG, so its great to have you with us!

The track needs more low end. you also lack some low-mids. Maybe switch up some of your main chord stacks into that range to make everything sound much more "full-er".

Not sure I like that fuzz effect or whatever you have that is playing with the kick?

I dig the jazz at 2:07 If you ever write new progressions like that, I would love to record a keyboard solo on it!

good use off slightly off beat bass / drum hits on your swing parts. That stuff is super time consuming to get it right.

good work mah dude. Really glad to see new faces on NG that produce quality tracks!

Miyolophone responds:

Thanks so much for the praise and feedback, Sequenced! I literally learned the basics of jazz improv overnight to make this track so I know my piano solo (while pretty good for a first try) is not really a proper solo, and it would be awesome to hear somebody else's take on that kind of progression!

solid piece. sometimes I love taking a step back and listening to simple chord rotations in an erik satie- style. You and I must have the same ear. I kept humming up the lead on to the next note and you follow suit! haha

you really like to tease the audience during those cadences towards your root I chord. cool switch up on the major I at the end there!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Why thank you :)
I usually like to vary the chords I use a lot. I did use some alternations, and a B-segment, but I found that for this piece, using the same/similar 8 chords with different arrangements worked really well. Basically, the piece centers around 4 keys on the piano (6 notes). I guess one could say 2 notes, if one only counts the A and G trills on the piano :p

It's cool if you were able to hum along with the piece in your head! I was wondering if the melodies were too flowy, and thus distracting :3

Thanks for the review, and for the listen!

decent.

watch out on your volume levels. Your synth leads's volume aren't consistent.

kick drum has too much low end.

awesome melodies and riffs.

keep it up broski

endKmusic responds:

Hey Seq!
Tried to tie it up as hard as I can but yeah, I agree.
Was kinda hard since there was a lot of stuff / layerz, different synths etc.
Will do.
Thanks for the input! <3

gotta keep stacking layers bro.. hurr hurrrr

Originally was going to vote 4, but the quality of the track is really good. Mix is spot on. I really dig those triplet swing fills you got going on on the downbeat instead of as a 4th bar fill.

you snuck in that tempo change before the break down really well. fantastic.

OOPSIES! your fx at 1:02 peaked/distorted. my ears :( same at 2:29

interesting choice of piano chords at the end.

the only thing I would change myself is your kick and snare. It's too chuncky in my personal taste. Honestly, a more tighter, shorter kick would sound fantastic here.

great dynamic field in this track.

oof. sneaky sneaky key change at 4:01. you aint escaping my ears!

You really put a crap ton of effort on this track and it shows dude. Hopefully we get to battle on the next future rounds!

P.S. put this under miscellaneous or just electronic. A future bass style track isn't really House bro o.O

Onefin responds:

hey bro! thank

as much as i wanted more layers on some things there was a point where my project file got way too big and was like "STOP ADDING MORE STUFF TO ME" and i had to comply

oops i gotta turn that one down

i don't really know how to make shorter kicks and snares stick out from the rest of the mix :( i messed around with them a bit, i'll get there someday, i hope

screw genres this is AMBIENT
